Focus & Flow
As a student at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business in the late 90s, Lisa stood apart from her peers because she had a passion for helping nonprofits and small businesses. Through her 20+ year career in accounting and finance, she has never lost sight of her purpose: creating a better world through strengthening mission-driven organizations.
Eschewing the corporate ladder, she obtained a Master of Science degree in Community and Regional Development at UC Davis in 2005 to support her goal of improving her effectiveness in helping businesses. While in graduate school, she started Alchemist Community Development Corporation, whose mission is to support Sacramento area residents in their efforts to create vibrant, equitable, healthy and diverse communities. Alchemist continues to serve the region as a leader in food access and grassroots community development. Following graduate school, she honed her finance, management and board development skills as the Chief Financial and Operations of Mutual Housing California, a Sacramento-region affordable housing developer.
In 2014, she started Focus and Flow, a community development consulting firm, to expand her impact nationwide, working with nonprofits and for-profits with a social purpose. Unlike other consultants, she brings a unique blend of deep financial expertise, strong teaching skills, and a passion for the happiness and satisfaction of those who sacrifice financial gain to serve their communities, regions and the world. Her nonprofit and for-profit clients agree: she brings them peace of mind, efficient and effective tools, and high caliber workshops and trainings. At Focus and Flow, they believe we can have it all: personal satisfaction and sustainable businesses.
